About RN @ Home

At RN at Home, my heart is to provide calm, trustworthy, and professional nursing support for families in and around Lacombe and Blackfalds. When a loved one’s health begins to change, families can feel overwhelmed, uncertain, and unsure of what the next step should be. My aim is to reduce fear and uncertainty by bringing a steady, caring presence into the home.

As a Registered Nurse, I help families think through the practical concerns that often come with caring for an aging or vulnerable loved one — changes in health, medication concerns, safety at home, mobility challenges, wound care needs, recovery after illness or surgery, and knowing when further medical support may be needed.

My goal is to help each client maintain their dignity, independence, and comfort while continuing to enjoy the peace of their own home and familiar surroundings.

Families can rely on me to be trustworthy, loyal, respectful, and attentive to the needs of both the client and their loved ones.

At RN at Home, care is not only about nursing tasks — it is about bringing peace of mind, reassurance, and dependable support when families need it most.

ME:

My name is Esmé Pretorius, and I am a Registered Nurse with a strong background in surgical and specialized nursing care and I have a heart for compassionate, professional care. I was born in South Africa, where I completed a four-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing, in 2004, with training in general nursing, psychiatric nursing, community nursing, and midwifery. I also hold a Diploma in Medical and Surgical Nursing: Operating Theatre Nursing Science and a Diploma in Nursing Management.

My nursing background includes experience in general surgery operating rooms, cardiac catheterization (angiograms), specialized cardiothoracic operating room nursing, and working in a clinic setting.

Outside of nursing, I am blessed to be married to my husband of 20 years, and we have two beautiful daughters. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve families in my community with warmth, respect, and trusted nursing care.
